Mobile two way radio upgrade project for Grosse Pointe Woods (MI) DPW vehicles

SGN Electronics was hired by The City of Grosse Pointe Woods Department of Public Works to upgrade and replace radios in their utility vehicles. The job consisted or removing old Motorola Spectra radios and installing new Motorola Astro XTL 1500 complete radio systems with mics, antennas, external speakers, wiring harness with custom fabricated mic / antenna brackets. All work completed on site with new power circuits. All new power harness's were ran in the headliner around the driver door opening to the lower dash board vs the rocker panel channel / floor to avoid corrosion & vibration issues by the previous installer. All radios wired to power down safely with the ignition circuit avoiding battery / charging issues.

GPS antennas for video systems on Global Educational Excellence (GEE) School buses, Ann Arbor MI

Installed low profile GPS antennas for DVR systems on school buses that were either owned or leased by the charter school. With the buses being leased there was concern about damaging the bus when installing the antennas causing additional fees / penalties when turning the buses in at the end of the lease. The solution was making custom brackets for the antennas then mounting them outside on mirror support bars or mounting the antennas on shrouds that covered warning lights at the top of the bus. When the lease is up and the bus is turned in there is no damage allowing the customer no further fees/ penalty under the terms of their contract. Its a win win situation for the customer.

GPS Equipment Installs

Installation or service of gps tracking units with or without navigation head (Garmin, Tom-Tom,etc), antenna installation on glass or stealth (concealed under trim piece,etc), PTO function in any type of vehicle. GPS tracking units can also be installed stealth to avoid tampering by customers or drivers, avoiding product failure and possible voiding warranties. GPS units can be installed in cars, trucks, buses, tractor trailer, semi trailer, attached trailers, pick up trucks, forklifts and other vehicles / machinery that has 12 or 24 volt systems. Service calls can consist of re-booting GPS tracking system, changing power harnesses or data cables for navigation system integrated with tracking unit.

Specialty work / custom brackets

Custom made brackets can be used when mounting antennas, shut off switches, radar units or other products and when mounting is a challenge. When brackets are not commercially available or would be too costly for the customer SGN Mobile Electronics is the answer to the problem offering custom brackets for the job. The brackets would then be attached in places where welding or other means of attaching them wouldn't be ideal for the custom due to future servicing needs. SGN Mobile Electronics thinks outside the box and will design brackets that will be productive,safe,reliable and at a substantial lower cost to the customer verses mass produced products. Brackets can be either steel or stainless steel in any gauge metal depending on the job made to utilize vehicle space with the customer in mind, measured, cut, drilled, primed and painted.

Emergency Lights installed on Grosse Pointe Woods DPS utility / support vehicle

Installed new emergency lights for department utility / support vehicle. New Sound Off red & blue Ghost lights were installed to rear of the Code / Animal Enforcement vehicle. All work completed on site with new power circuits. New power harness was ran in the headliner around the driver door opening to the lower dash board versus the rocker panel channel / floor to avoid corrosion & vibration issues. Rear lights were wired to power down safely with the ignition circuit avoiding battery / charging problems.

Warren Waterman Ambulance

SGN Mobile Electronics repaired Unity Spotlights, model S6 on a customer / friends vintage 1968 Cadillac Mercury Meteor Ambulance. Work consisted of running new power leads, separating circuits adding new "old school" glass style fuses to protect both circuits with new connectors. Getting the ambulance ready for Woodward Dream Cruise & other end of summer cruises.
